Detailed description of project
proPOLIS is a 36-month research project aiming to develop an integrated predictive policing solution to enhance public safety, patrol planning and crime prevention in smart cities. The solution combines Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms with Digital Twin (DT) technologies to analyse data and support the prediction of potential risks in urban environments.
By exploiting data from multiple sources, the project will develop machine and deep learning tools, Digital Twins and intelligent decision-support systems. Digital Twins will enable the digital representation of urban areas, real-time data analysis and the simulation of different scenarios.
Particular emphasis is placed on the ethical, transparent and responsible use of AI and Digital Twins, including privacy protection, mitigation of algorithmic bias, accountability and human oversight.
The solution will be evaluated through scenarios involving petty-crime detection, public-space protection and enhanced safety in smart cities, with testing at the CERTH Technology Park and pilot implementation in areas of the Municipality of Agrinio.
Type and scope of work provided
- Digital Twins: Developing a Smart City Digital Twin for the digital representation, monitoring and simulation of urban areas.
- Artificial Intelligence: Further developing DOTSOFT’s AI algorithms for identifying patterns and predicting potential trends and events.
- Mobile Applications: Upgrading mobile applications for real-time information, geographical incident identification and data analysis.
- APIs & Microservices: Developing and using APIs and microservices to support the integration and interoperability of the project’s technological solutions.
- Data Integration: Integrating data from multiple sources to support improved analysis and response.
- Pilot Validation: Supporting pilot operation, evaluation of project results and planning the validation of the solution in municipalities and communities.
proPOLIS is implemented under the “Research – Innovate” Action, Intervention II “Partnerships between Enterprises and Research Organisations”.
