INTEL ANN – SMART PARKING OPTIMIZATION

Detailed description of project

The INTEL ANN system solution aims to solve is the need for car drivers to find free parking places to occupy within a city. The solution that will be developed will be established within the city of Kalamaria in Thessaloniki, Greece. The Selected Third Party has already installed a hub of 150 in-ground parking occupancy sensors and monitors the parking traffic (IN/OUT per parking space) for more than 12 months.

Challenges to be solved: The team involved in the project will augment the data

collected with these domain areas:

  1. fixed time parameters
  2. time-variable parameters
  3. climate-based (and time variable) parameters
  4. Traffic based data on the streets in focus, ex. traffic overloads
  5. Bus stops related data

Also, the INTEL ANN solution aims to scale-up the system in the case of metropolitan areas where huge amounts of parking places should be  handled by partitioning the city (or the metropolitan area) into parking areas, with the implementation of an edge-node per area, responsible for collecting the data from related near-by sensors, and a system federating learning.

  3. Infrastructure Management: Edge Orchestrator
  4. Dynamic Network Management: TSN Network Controller, if applicable.

Type and scope of work provided

  1.  WP1 Software Infrastructure for Edge nodes, with a Technical Report on the analysis and requirements of the Software Infrastructure for Edge nodes as the Deliverable and a Cloud Platform as the expected Outcome
  2.  WP2 Development of Machine Learning Model, with a Technical Report on the analysis and requirements of the parking place availability prediction system as the Deliverable, and a Parking place availability prediction system as the expected Outcome
  3.  WP3 Development of Mobile application, with a Technical Report requirements and design of the mobile application as the Deliverable and a Mobile Application as the expected Outcome
  4. WP4 Dissemination exploitation and communication, with Promotion Materials (Poster) and Newsletter list of interested stakeholders as the expected Outcome/Deliverable
  5. WP5 Project Management, with Project Management Report(s) as the expected Outcome.
